TEAM NEVIS CYCLE AND TRIATHLON CLUB HONOURS MOTHERS IN UNIQUE STYLE Charlestown, NEVIS – The Team Nevis Cycle and Triathlon Club celebrated Mother’s Day 2012 in grand style with its club members, it was the first ever Mother’s Day 40km Bike Race. This inaugural event held on Mother’s Day May 13th 2012, saw competition in various categories namely:- A Class Males, A Class Females, B Class Males, Cadets, Mountain Bikes, Open Mothers and Senior. Up for grabs were a number of Mother’s Day themed prizes generously donated by this year’s sponsors. The race was officially started by mother Lynette Chapman riding in the Open Mothers category. This event the first of its kind was the brain child of newly elected club President, Reginald “Reggie” Douglas. According to Douglas, “this event was the start of a number of exciting activities by the club, to highlight the health benefits of cycling, create greater awareness for the sports of cycling and triathlons and to build greater participation in both sports locally.” Joining Reginald Douglas, on the new board are James Weekes and five (5) other individuals forming the new Executive Board of the Team Nevis Cycle and Triathlon Club. This first event was especially for Mothers and included a Mother’s cycling category and each cyclist was riding to win a prize or token for their mother. The sponsors for this year’s event were Maaruti Supermarket Newcastle, Best Buy Supermarket, Nevis Adventure Tours & GreenEdge Bike Shop, TDC Nevis, St. Kitts Bottling Company, Golden Rock Plantation Inn and the Oualie Beach Resort.
