The Redlands Classic, Tucson, Arizona. By Kathryn Bertine.
Well, you win some you lose some. As they say in cycling, "That's bike racing." My trip to Redlands, the first NRC pro race of the year was cut a bit short by stomach troubles during day two of the four day race. Something did not sit right in my tummy. Which is actually better than when something doesn't sit right in my brain! Those races are worse. But stomach, alas, there is nothing you can do but let it go and try again next time. Onward! I have two local races coming up in April; the Colossal Cave Stage Race and the Colleen Whealdon-Haught Memorial Race Against Time. The CCSR is holding a clothing/gear drive for the Nevis Cycle Club, offering a discounted race entry to all those who bring contributions! Tucson cyclists love St. Kitts and Nevis, and I'm so grateful for their support. The CWH Memorial Race Against Time is a 30K time trial just outside Tucson which honors a dear, fellow elite cyclist from Tucson, Colleen, who passed away from breast cancer last year at the age of 31. I'm proud to be part of a community who races for charities and contributes to athletes everywhere. Go AZ and Go SKN!! Everyone in Tucson is looking forward to meeting Reggie and James when they come here to train next month. Hurry up, guys! :)
