News 2009
Dear friends and readers
I hope your 2009 is off to a great start! Just a quick note about some upcoming cycling/writing...
While I'm hoping to secure another contract with ESPN later this year, in the meantime I'll be posting new sports columns on a national website called The Examiner. I'll be their national "examiner" for women's cycling, doing what I can do bring more media attention to this publicity-starved sport. Speaking of starving, this site pays its writers on a percentage of how many hits an article gets. Ah, freelance. Thank you, in advance, for feeding me. http://www.examiner.com/x-3266-Womens-Cycling-Examiner
I'll be racing in 2009 for Specialized/Bicycle Haus, a women's elite team based out of Arizona. Internationally, I will proudly continue to represent St. Kitts and Nevis. I've got a race calendar posted on my new website www.kathrynbertine.com Hope to see you at the races! My first one will be the women's criterium at the Tour of California, Feb 15th.
As for the book, RandomHouse/ESPN is on a little bit of a delay due to the economy. "As Good As Gold: A 33-year-old athlete's two year quest to make the Summer Olympic Games" will be coming out sometime between June '09 and February '10. Supposedly they mean '09 and '10 of this particular century. Ah, publishing. I'm sure I will thank them eventually.
Thanks for your continued support.
My very best wishes,
Kathryn
