NEVIS CYCLE & TRIATHLON CLUB

In this year's annual El Tour de Tucson ride, a 109 mile bike race held in Tucson, Arizona, I came in 6th place among the women. I was fortunate to race for Team Xood. Xood is a new, healthy, natural energy drink made by cardiologists in the Tucson cycling community, (and the pomegranate is my favorite flavor). The event draws over 8,000 cyclists from all over the world, and the course loops the perimeter of Tucson in a very unique way. There are two "river crossings" which are dry riverbeds, but trying to navigate sandy washes on a road bike usually proves a challenge for cyclists nonetheless.  The fast pace and strong wind made for good challenges as well, and I finished with a pack of cyclists who crossed the line in 4 hours and 38 minutes. It was a terrific way to cap off a stellar year of racing, and I'm no thrilled to be back in Nevis for some winter training (and resting!).
