Ironman 70.3 World Championships, Florida 2008
The season is over!
The Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 was my last race this year. I think, I can be content with this last race. The swim was nice, 35.27min. The bike was as expected 2:24.02hours. There was almost no wind and many people were drafting. I had passed many women of my age group and then 15min later some of them passed me in a big group with the men of the waves started after us. This happened at least twice. Of course I had the choice to join the group but I didn't. I tried not to get frustrated about it and to just enjoy my bike. The run was ok too, hard but ok. In spite of the heat, almost 30 degrees celcius, no shadow on the course and the (steep) climbs I could keep 'running'. 2:07.34hours. Finish time 5:12.46hours, my second best time on a 70.3; 35th of the 64 starters (including the drafters) Now it's time to chill. It was a long season...
