Members were reminded that membership fee of EC$100.00 is due and payable in January 2008. Also the obtaining of racing licences for those who are interested was mentioned. These would allow the holders to race abroad whether in Triathlon or Road Races. The Triathlon Licence cost US$25.00 and the Cycling Licence cost US$30.00.
We were informed that no progress has been made in reference to any feedback from the SKNOC (St. Kitts & Nevis Olympic Committee.), even after several attempts were made. They have failed to give any reasoning in reference to preventing Reggie Douglas from attending the Pan Am Games this year. The committee members attended the games and left the most important person behind. Winston has met with them and nothing satisfactory came of it. With our new executive, hopefully we can get somewhere with the SKNOC.
In March of 2008, the triathlon will be a Continental Cup i.e at an international level. This means media coverage and international exposure for our athletes. Persons who participate will be able to accrue points that will go towards their ranking. Reggie, Jessica, Miranda & Kristina are all ranked by the ITU. Someone from Mexico will visit Nevis to check out and approve the course and also technical personnel. The aim is to have chip timing via computer as this will help with the accuracy of the timings. This event will be handled by the St. Kitts & Nevis Triathlon Federation and members and executive were reminded to act accordingly. Sometime next year eight persons will be or were selected to attend the World Tri Series in Vancouver Canada.
The National Triathlon Championship will be held in April 2007.
Valerie Smithen voiced her concern of not hearing much about cycling events as opposed to triathlon events that dominated the meeting. We were assured that we will be hearing more about the cycling aspects in the near future and were reminded of Miranda and Kristina’s participation in St. Marteen, June 2007.
Miranda Fellows informed us that the fund raising event, “Ride For Reading” will be on February 2nd, 2007 and we would like as much members as possible to participate and support this event.
Meeting adjourned at 5:31pm.
Valerie Smithen, Secretary (TNTC)
