Natures Little Secrets Cycling Club TeamTime Trial
The Alphonso Warner Insurance Team Time Trial that was hosted by Nature's Little Secrets Cycling Club was really a Trial.
On Sunday, June 3rd, 14 riders both male and female joined together to form seven teams to challenge the 20-mile course from Palestina to Frenchman's Cay and back, twice. Battling strong winds, construction of the bridge at Pockwood Pond, a flat tire and a broken fork, the competition saw all the riders with a smile on their faces during and after the race, or as best said by Chris Ghiorse "a slow hard but fun suffering" For the overall victory with a time of 1hour 04 minutes and 21 seconds saw the team of national record holder Neil Thomas and the young and rising star Deane Fonseca take the crown for the day. In second with a time of 1:06:52c was Mother?s Day Champ Lisa Adamson and Nevis?s very own Winston Crooke who suffered a flat but still made it to the finish. Third with a time of 1:10.34 saw Andrew Thompson and Club member Charlene Hodge put in a surprising ride to finish just 12 seconds ahead of the next team to finish the podium spots. Fourth was Patlian Johnson and Keith Jones in 1:10.46, fifth was Chris Ghiorse and Jacqueline Wilson in 1: 11.16, sixth was Mark Smith and Elsa Meyers in 1:11.35 and seventh saw Peter Wilmott who suffered a broken fork but his teammate Sally Blackmore carried on the load to finish in a time of 1:11.47. President of the Club, Ms. Maria Vieira said she was extremely pleased on how riders of different categories were paired up together, sharing their knowledge and working together as a team to achieve the best results with their team members to make the race a fun event that had everyone smiling as the certificates and T-shirts were handed out afterwards. NLSCC would like to give special thanks to Alphonso Warner Insurance Agency for sponsoring this event, BVICF, CTL, the volunteers and the cyclists for making this race a great one and looks forward to seeing everyone at the Club's next event.
