Nevis to host the OECS Road Racing Championships 2007
The OECS road racing championships is to be held this year on the island of Nevis, under the auspices of the St Kitts & Nevis Cycling Federation, this event traditionally attracts over 70 riders from around the region, with nationals from member states vying for the title of OECS champion.
The Nevis Cycle & Triathlon Club has been trying to bring this event to Nevis for the last four years, and finally their bid was accepted, giving this little island the opportunity to show off its talents, by providing first class amenities, a challenging course and some typical Nevis hospitality.
The courses will be, a team time trial of 20kms on Saturday 16th and a road race of 75 miles (125 km) for the men and this year women and youths will be included, they will ride shorter courses to encourage their participation in future events around the region, and there will be a trophy on offer to the top female and top youth.
This event is sponsored by The Carino Health Spa, who will house all the athletes, and the Ministry of youth, Sports & Community Affairs.
