General Information
The swim distance is 2.5miles (4km) Oualie Beach on Nevis to Cockleshell Bay on St Kitts The 2014 swim will be the 12th annual Bente Weber memorial swim which offers the opportunity to both speedsters and adventurers to take on the best open ocean swimmers in the region and the world. In 2013 there were a record number of finishers (127) and in 2011 a new event record was set by Olivier Marceau in a time of 58:09. One of the attractions of this event is that it is not only a race but also a challenge, so for those not so fast or competent swimmers please feel free to use fins or a snorkel mask to get you across the beautiful 'Narrows'. This year the event has partnered with the St Kitts Turtle Monitoring Group to raise awareness and funds for this important conservation project, http://www.stkittsturtles.org/

Tip No. 2) By Tim Nokes - 2 time swimmer " I always take my line of sight from Oualie Beach by lining up with the highest peak above Cockleshell Beach on St Kitts, i call it 'Nokes Knoll'
FEATURED ATHLETES 2014 - CHRISTINA WENSMAN - 1st Place Overall 2013 - (1:05:44) I started swimming when I was about 3 and have been swimming ever since. I swam and played water polo all the way through high school and went on to play Division I Water Polo for 4 years while I got my undergraduate degree. Once I finished playing competitively I continued to train and swim with master’s teams and playing regional tournaments.
VALERIE GREGOIRE - 3rd place Overall 2013 - (1:09:46) I started swimming when I was about 3 and have been swimming ever since. I swam and played water polo all the way through high school and went on to play Division I Water Polo for 4 years while I got my undergraduate degree. Once I finished playing competitively I continued to train and swim with master’s teams and playing regional tournaments. I did just 3 “open water races”: 2 in a Lake in Canada and the channel swim in St. Kitts & Nevis.
JANE HANSOM - At school and university Jane competed in swimming events at a national level, but only recently regained this interest in the sport. She now swims for the Camden and Swiss Cottage Masters team in London; usually only swimming 1500m for Olympic distance triathlons, so the Nevis-St Kitts swim is a step up.
Had a great year in 2013 winning gold in the European Triathlon Championships in Turkey, Bronze in the World Aquathlon Champs and 4th in the World Triathlon Champs in Hyde Park, London.
